Hello Solidworks group,
I came accross a unique requirement, hope SolidWorks already has some solution for it or may be some expert knows a way around & help me.
Problem:
Design a tank with 2 or more than 2 inlet/outlet flanges (say 4) & all flanges have different sizes, that may vary.(say from size of 1,2,3,4,5,6)
So total 4 (flanges) x 6 (different sizes) = 24 configurations.
1) Naming convention for all the configurations becomes long & complicated
2) While inserting the part (tank) into the assembly, selection of the right configuration takes time, as the Configuration selection window is too small, number of configurations are more & names in the list are long, which makes it uneasy to find the right configuration.
Expected solution:
Have different design table for different flange in same part (tank) file.
While inserting the part file in assembly, Solidworks should display a window with combo-boxes, associated with the design table names. Every combo-boxes containing the list of configurations of that design table.
This will help end users to select the right configuration / combination of configurations quickly.
About the size of the window for configuration selection, I suggest it should be displayed in Property Manager, so that it could be resized & may be more options could be provided like having mates (normally the first step in assembly, after bringing in parts is doing mates) & "Fix" or "Float" radio button option
I look forward for a solution.
Thanks & Regards
Poorvesh
