Hi All,
I have been working on a custom knife project and I used a series of boundry, planar and free form surfaces to create an organically shaped handle for the knife. I modeled the right hand side of the handle and would now like to mirror it to create the left hand side. I was not able to figure out how to mirror the RH handle at the component level. I was able to create a LH mirror at the assembly level but I am not happy with the results. If I go one route, I end up with a separate part that, when opened at the component level, is only a solid body, no features in the feature tree. If I go the other route, I get the features, but they translate back and forth between the original RH component, i.e. if I put bolt holes in the RH part, they show up in the LH mirrored part and if I put bolt holes in the LH mirrored part, they show up as a suppressed feature in the RH part.
It seems to me that there should be an easy way to mirror the part and its features and save it as an independant component so that any changes made to the derived part would stay at that level.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks,
Cole
