Hello everyone,
I'm currently using SolidWorks Maker, and I'd like to migrate to a Classic SolidWorks license (Pro Startup) to make it easier to exchange files with other users and clients who aren't on the Maker ecosystem.
A reseller told me that it wouldn't be possible to reopen files created in SolidWorks Maker once I switch to the classic version, which worries me quite a bit given the amount of work already done (parts, assemblies, drawings).
So I'd like to know:
Is this limitation actually real, and if so, at what level does it apply (proprietary file format, license lock, etc.)?
Is there an intermediate export method or format that would preserve the design tree (features, sketches, dimensions) rather than just the raw geometry (as a STEP export would)?
Has anyone already gone through this Maker → Classic migration and can share their experience?
Thanks in advance!
