When I delete this supporting plate, I would expect mates on the motor to give an error message. But instead Solidworks will simply turn them grey like you would if you would suppress the mates, but they're not suppressed though..

Is this because the supporting plate is in a sub-assembly? Can I alter the behaviour of this so it never simply turns mates off but instead gives me an error or warning message next to the mates that have missing references?
