I have a rectangular metal plate (in real life) that I want to turn into a Solidworks object. It has holes of different sizes and locations in it and I want to make a faithful recreation of them in SW.
I initially tried to measure it with a caliper and make a sketch accordingly, but then realized it would be much more precise to simply scan the plate with my 600 dpi scanner and somehow get that into SW. I scanned the plate successfully and got a high-quality high-resolution JPEG image.
Now my question is: How do I make that image into a Solidworks sketch that defines the rectangular plate and round holes in it? I expect to be required to make the sketch myself with the picture as backdrop, but how?
Thanks,
Ram.
