Major Rebuild Errors After Updating Global Variable (Lesson 6‑72) + Black Screen Crash

Hi everyone, I’m working through a SolidWorks training course (SDW101 – Lesson 6‑72) and ran into a chain of rebuild failures after updating a global variable (beam thickness) from 5.25 in → 5.75 in.

After making that change, I immediately started getting errors in the top-level assembly GA_001, including:

  • SA_004_Deck & Frame has rebuild errors
  • SA_006_Rope Ladder has rebuild errors
  • Coincident3 mate error — referenced entity suppressed or missing
  • PLANE1 warning — missing references

Digging deeper, I found:

  • Body‑Delete/Keep 1 errors in multiple Frame parts (Frame_003, Frame_004, Frame_007, Frame_008, etc.)
  • Over 20 broken Coincident mates across SA_002 and SA_004
  • A black viewport crash that forced me to close SolidWorks
  • On reopening, the “What’s Wrong” dialog appears immediately before anything loads

I haven’t deleted or modified any geometry manually — all issues started right after the global variable update.

I’ve attached screenshots of:

  • The “What’s Wrong” dialog
  • Body‑Delete/Keep errors
  • Broken mates
  • Equations table
  • Black screen after force‑close

If anyone has seen this type of cascading rebuild failure or knows how to recover the model, I’d really appreciate your help. I’m stuck and can’t continue the lesson.

Thanks, Bill
