Yup, I know my VAR yells every time I tell him I am running Swks on my MacBook Pro with something like "We don't support it and won't answer questions about it." To which I reply "I am not asking questions about the Mac."
Why MBP? I don't like spending \$4500+ for a Dell M4500 (or far more for an M6500), compared to a bit over \$3000 for the MacBook Pro and I can run virtually anything I need to run, and I certainly don't like carrying 2 laptops, hence my capability, dollar and weight based solution.
As far as I am concerned with my plastic part modeling, the MBPro does everything I need at the moment (except that I don't want to spend the money on Mold Flow right now). 2+ weeks of work in Win7 64 + Swks has been totally trouble free, no crashes, no freezes, except one caused by a Bluetooth mouse that stopped locking up Win7. Some users would decry no Real View, but it really doesn't matter to me. Just gotta get the models done.
I don't ask many questions, but when I do, I don't know why non-supported hardware doesn't have a collection of FAQ articles that would be of use to the adventurous of us. It wouldn't take much to post such notes from users and from the internal staff experiences. It greatly expands the already great usability and it is a great promo for SolidWorks. Lots of people have no idea SolidWorks can run so damn well on a Mac Laptop until they see mine (& others I know).
Does anyone know of a "Tips & Tricks" site for MacOSX and SolidWorks that functions on an ongoing basis?
