Lofting-Connectors & Guide Curves

Hello,

I am trying to model a tapered "spiral" using the loft feature with two profiles and a guide curve. So far, I have been unable to align the connectors so the shape does not twist. See the attached picture showing the modeled feature as is.

The guide curve is a series of arcs with a decreasing radius drawn as a single 2d sketch, not a true spiral.  The taper is set by the first and second profiles. The first profile is 5'6" high, the second is 7'6" high.

The profiles are selected from the appropriate corresponding points on each sketch.Even without the guide curve there is a twist in the model. See the attached pictures showing the connectors and the selection of the profiles with their alignment points. From reading the help files it looks like this feature is using local twist control vs global twist control. I have tried to hide connectors, doesn't affect the twist in the feature. Unable to slide connectors to the verticies of the profiles-the connectors stops sliding along the edge of the profile before it reaches the vertice. Unable to delete connectors.

Could someone with more experience editing the connectors offer any recommendations? Am I approaching this problem incorrectly? Any assistance or recommendations, tips are greatly appreciated.
