Hi,
I've tested the new "Lock Rotation" option you have when creating a concentric mate.
I was wondering how solidworks Motion maps this kind of constraint.
I was hoping this constraint would be mapped as a "prismatic joint". There's currently no mate that is automatically translated to a prismatic joint.
You need to create a concentric mate then apply a rotary motor to prevent rotation.
I've Made a test in simple model where there was a concentric mate with a Lock rotation option. When interrogating degrees of freedom the report shown by solidworks Motion states that the mate was translated to a cylindrcal joint (allows rotation and translation).
I guess that if the developers are still in time it would be cool to have this addition: in solidworks Motion ability to translate a concentric mate with Lock rotation option to a prismatic joint in solidworks Motion.
It would make sense because currently there's an incostintent behaviour: with a concentric mate with lock rotation option a component won't rotate in solidworks but it will do in solidworks Motion.
Cheers,
Alex
