Link to Property Not Working After Creating Custom Property Tab

Hello all,

I am experiencing an interesting problem regarding property links in drawings and custom property tabs.

What I've got is an assembly drawing with a sheet format that has a title block and a few \$PRPSHEET links which link to the Description, Drawn By, Date, and Revision properties of the assembly model.

I then used the Property Tab Builder to create a property tab for the assembly model that had each of the above properties listed for editing. In doing so, the custom property tab had a text box for each property and whose name matched the property name.

The problem is, now when I open the File Properties dialog box (by clicking File --> Properties, or the icon at the top of the screen) in order to edit the above properties that way, not only are the custom property tab text boxes not updated, but more importantly the linked notes in the assembly drawing sheet format do not take on these new values. Instead, the linked notes only take on the values entered in the custom property tab. My issue is then that, by creating a custom property tab with property names equal to the custom properties listed in the File Properties dialog, I expected each of the properties to be the same between the File Properties dialog box and the custom property tab to be the same, but that does not seem to be the case.

To make matters worse, I cannot get the relationship between the model and the drawing back to it's original state, where the drawing notes take on the values set in File Properties dialog box. I tried deleting the ".asmprp" property tab file, but that did not fix the issue. I even tried creating a new drawing from the assembly model, but the linked notes are still looking for values set by the assembly custom property tab, even after I had deleted the ".asmprp" file.

So my questions are:

  1. For assembly/part files, is there a way to create a relationship between the custom properties set by the File Properties dialog box and the custom property tab, such that setting a property using the File properties dialog box changes the same-named property in the custom property tab, and vice versa?
  2. After I have created a custom property tab with properties that are named the same as properties listed in the File Properties dialog box, how do I get the linked properties in my drawings to link to the properties specified in the File Properties dialog box (rather than the properties in the custom property tab)?

Hopefully this post is not too confusing - I am after all a long-time Pro/E user who was recently converted to SolidWorks , and I am just trying to get a handle on some of the more advanced features SolidWorks has to offer.

Thanks in advance for your help!
