I am heading up a team that is building a portfolio ofLibrary Features for our company. We continue to struggle with whatappears to be some bugs or anomalies in using Library Features. Weare currently running SW08 SP4.0
Note that 99.9% of our parts are cylinders/pipe. Our libraryfeatures are mostly predefined lathe geometry (via design table)with a single dimension for positioning the library feature axiallyon the the part. Other than sketch plane reference, we use aDiameter Edge as a reference to define the axis centerline and theaxial position of the library feature. We would like the user ofthe libary feature to input this single locating dimension which wecall POSITION. If the libary feature is built with POSITION locatedin the "locating dimensions" folder, this gives the user theability to change the value of POSITION once the references areselected. The problem is SW alters the value of POSITION (from thevalue it was built at) and often flips it in the opposite directionthus causing an insertion error of the library feature. Ourworkaround is to simply move POSITION from the "locatingdimensions" folder back to the root "dimensions" folder. This thenrequired that the user of the libary feature select "override"during insertion, but this prevents the error.
My question is does anyone have similiar problem? Is this a knownissue? How would I go about get this bug addressed?
I can post up an example if necessary.
