So, I have this assembly that I am modifying. In it are a couple of custom "W" beams in there from the TB. I have asked recently about exporting to make custom parts making sure the "Create Parts" is checked in the TB configuration. So, I did that. I am thinking I have not remastered how to do this correctly or maybe, just maybe, the software does not do what I would like it to do.
With that said, when I insert the so called custom part into my assembly, it shows up as the standard out of the box TB part until I call it up and rename it, change its config name and add a custom description.
I get the new part(s) into the assembly comfy and cozy. All is good. I check it into the PDM and close it.
Now, the fun begins. Are you ready? Wait, wait, wait for it!!!!
I check it out of the PDM, and I have a laundry list of errors. Why you ask? Glad you asked that question!!!
The so called custom TB part(s) that I renamed and changed everything in, switched back to the out of the box part. So, all of my mates failed because those mates were for the "Custom" TB part(s). I replace the components back to the ones I created AGAIN. Check it into the PDM with all being well. I even go into the PDM Toolbox folder and delete the out of the box TB part thinking this will fix it because everything is pathed and set the way I need it to be. Close it once again, and then this morning, check it out yet again and I bet you can never guess what happened??
Ding, ding, ding!!!! You are correct if you said it resorted back to the out of the box TB part(s). Yet AGAIN , I switched it all back to the way I need it to be using the custom TB part(s). I haven't closed it yet, because I know how this story plays out.
I am coming to the conclusion (and if I am wrong, feel free to correct me) I need to take the TB part and create my own custom from scratch the old fashioned way. I know if I do this, I will NEVER see that ugly out of the box TB part again.
Comments? Anyone??
