Good afternoon. I need to perform a laser cut on a cylindrical tube at a diagonal angle, which will precisely contour around another intersecting tube. When utilizing the Structural Component feature within SolidWorks, the software automatically generates a beveled cut (mitre joint). However, due to the constraints of the laser cutting machine — specifically, its inability to adjust the cutting head angle — the cut must be executed as a square cut, orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the tube.
Is there any native SolidWorks functionality, such as within Weldments or Cut-Extrude features, that can parametrically generate this type of end cut to match the intersection geometry while maintaining a straight cut profile? Alternatively, are there any recommended best practices, macros, or automated workflows that facilitate this adjustment efficiently when processing a high volume of parts, minimizing manual modeling time?
Attached are reference images illustrating both the current output and the required cutting geometry.
Thank you in advance for your technical guidance.
