Hello All,
I have been working on a fatigue study. One thing I have been stumped on is the Kf factor in the properties. I added an image to show what I mean. Now from my previous experience with machine design, Kf is the notch sensitivity factor. But in solidworks it seems like its the product of all the marin factors, or modifying factors. Now the Fatigue Check Plot in the static analysis allows for several marin factors to be accounted for, but this is absent in the overall fatigue study.
So can someone clarify if Kf the reduction in strength factor is the product of all the marin factors, ie surface roughness, reliability, etc, or is it notch sensibility which what Kf generally represents.
Thanks for all the help!
Eli
