I am trying to create a wire routing between two connectors. I want to bring in each connector from the design library one at a time, mate them manually into the exact position and orientation and then use auto routing to connect the connectors.

For some reason auto routing only works if I route the connectors immediately after bringing them in. I do not want to use the mate reference.

This seems simple in my head but I am not able to find the way to implement it. All you tube tutorials use the mate reference which I want to avoid.

Any help with this is much appreciated
