Hi all — I’m trying to show both imperial and metric lengths automatically in my weldment cut list and I’m stuck.
Our shop just purchased a new saw that only accepts metric lengths; we still have an older imperial-only saw too. I want our drawings’ cut lists to display both units automatically.
What I’ve done so far:
- Added a custom property to the part template that calculates metric length from the imperial length using an equation.
- At the part level the custom property works and each structural member gets the correct property value. The cut list table in the model shows both values as expected.
Problem:
- When I place the weldment cut list on a drawing, the metric-length custom property (the one that uses an equation) shows this text instead of a value:
“The syntax of this equation is incorrect.”
Has anyone seen this before? Is SolidWorks not evaluating equation-based custom properties when the cut list is placed on a drawing, or am I doing something wrong with my property or cut list settings? Any ideas or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
