At the company I'm with, we have drawings standards that certain materials get certain colors on a drawing. This works in general because the average user can glance at a drawing and figure out which parts are which materials. For example, aluminum is a cyan color, steel is a yellow color, pine is a green color, vinyl is blue, etc. Is there a way in solidworks (I'm in 2016) to link the material to a layer? I see the crosshatch is linked to the material. We're converting some of the drawings into a different cad program, and it is a real pain to have to select every component, and then switch the layer to get the color. Even if there is a custom way I can do this, I would love to know. I would then put it in the template so everyone's issues are resolved. Please help!
Thank you,
Brandon
