Is SolidWorks suitable software for metal construction/sheetmetal

Hi SolidWorks Users,

I recently started my job at a cladding company. Currently we use AutoCAD for the drawings we make.

With the modern design software architects design more and more complex shapes wich we have to clad. We start to reach the limits of 2D AutoCAD possibilities when making drawings for these projects. I am looking for a new program to increase the efficiency of my work. I have done some of the basic tutorials of SolidWorks a few years ago and I liked the ease and speed of the designing I could do with it. I did not get beyond making some simple models and assemblies so I wonder if it is a suitable program for modeling complete buildings and drawing the cladding for it.

An example of the challenges I encounter:

I want to cover a building like this:

with cladding like this:

and design all the details, connections, fastners etc. we may need for it.

Buildings can be as large as a stadium so I wonder if the engine can cope with dimensions like that. The program is not specificly designed for constructions like that is it? It is used for smaller but way more complex assemblies so it might be able to do bigger but simpler constructions as well?

Thanks in advance!
