I use the slot mate quite a bit, and it's default setting is "free", which I hardly ever use.  It's nice that it automatically offers a slot mate when I select a slot and a hole, but then I have to edit the mate to "centered in slot".  I'd prefer the default for a slot mate to be centered, I think it just makes more sense and saves time.
