I'm being asked to provide the area, total perimeter (including interior holes) and thickness of a population of 500 sheetmetal parts modeled in SolidWorks.

I easily can get this information for any individual part by doing the following:

• Navigate to a specific part file and open it;
• Flatten the part;
• Engage the measurement tool and click on one face of the part to read out net area and total perimeter of the part;
• Use the measurement tool again to read out thickness of the part;
• Manually enter the information into a spreadsheet.

But that takes two to four minutes.  And it is vulnerable to human error -- mine!

So does anyone know of a way to automate or radically shorten this process so that it is practical with a larger number of parts?  Thanks!
