In making machined parts from castings we are using derivedparts (one part inserted into another). This works very well andallows for a much greater number of available feautres over usingassembly cuts.
However one big pain, is in changing the configuration of the cast(origional) part. That part has to be opened in memory before youcan even get the option to choose another configuration. Moreover,any configurations in the derived part will lso not update unlessthe origional model is open. This is also notable, but notcontrolable by a design table.
I have put in an enhancement request to have the origional partautomatically opened (preferably in the background) every time aderived part is opened. This would save a great deal of time andaggrivation, as well as not having to have an unnecessary windowopen.
