Install/re-install/repair Failure

I'm a new SolidWorks user - a veteran using a student version.

I did a successful install and started working my way through the tutorials.  Somewhere along the way I got the menu/ribbons all fouled up and could find no way to restore to default, so I attempted a new install/repair.  At about the 46% stage of SolidWorks install I got the following:

"Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

1. If the installation fails, contact Technical Support.

If you continue, you may encounter further errors. If you contact Technical Support, be prepared to provide the installation log files available in this directory."

I tried several uninstall/install cycles with the same results.

I can find no way to contact Technical Support unless I buy a support subscription.

Can anyone give me an idea of how to correct or work around the CRC error?

Can anyone fine me an idea of how to get this report to Tech Support?

Thank you,

Jim Seargeant
