My question relates to inserting parts for an assembly manual:
It seems that Solidworks only allows you to add all the parts you need into the finished assembly first, then create specific assembly configurations/display states to remove parts you don't need yet for step 1, 2, 3, etc.
Is there a feature (or it would be great if it can be added) to allow inserting a component into a specific assembly configuration only?
For example, I want to add a screw to assembly configuration "Step 7" but it will also insert it into all the previous steps I have already completed.
I want to create a drawing for step 1 with all necessary hardware, then start on step 2 and add needed hardware - it is more intuitive to work like this on a new assembly manual than adding everything at once and then backpedaling to remove them on initial steps.
It seems easier to create something like a LEGO manual by adding a few bricks at a time than to complete the assembly and backtrack.
