Impeller Heat Transfer Analysis

I am trying to map results from a 2D thermal study onto a 3D surface to perform heat stress analysis in a static study. The analysis is being done on an impeller so the 2D cross section was initally created by revolving the hub and shroud to create a solid mass for the impeller. This works perfectly to model the heat transfer 2 dimensionally, but to model the corresponding stress from the resultant temperatures in the same manner is not accurate, due to fillets and things of that nature.

Therefore, does anyone know how to extract those resultant temperatures from 2D heat transfer analysis and apply them to a 3D static analysis? I know usually you can apply results in the thermal effects option, if the geometry is the same.

Also, I have found the nodal temperatures from the 2D study are listed in the CWR file if the mesh is not too fine. I have tried directly editing these temperatures in notepad but most of the file is encrypted and will not read into a static study once the temperatures have been altered. Is there a proper way to open and manually edit CWR files? If so I could most likely map it to a 3 dimensional surface with relative ease.

If a parasolid would be helpful I may be able to upload something, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for anyone who helps!

Thanks,

Andrew
