Hello all,
In viewing some other discussions on this forum I think I already have the answer, but just want to confirm.
I do a lot of modeling then convert to iges for CMM programming. My particular CMM software can import step, dxf and iges. I always use iges because the other two formats don't convert the 3D sketches I need for CMM programming. The problem is converting some files (like the one attached) to iges increases the size by 500%. That in turn bogs down the CMM software. I believe the culprit is the fillets between the airfoils and OD conical wall. When I suppress those fillets then save as iges, it actually gets a little smaller than the SW file. I can work with doing it this way. It's just nice to have the fillets available in the CMM so it sees them for path planning etc.
So is it true that there is nothing that can be done to keep iges converted files from blowing up in size?
Thanks in advance!
