Hi folks, I can't seem to figure this out. I'm designing an adapter for an air scrubber, and I plant to 3D print it. I'll need to split the parts into 6 pieces to print them, and I want to use dovetails to join the parts.

By using a single-direction splitline from a sketch on the right plane, followed by a circular pattern, I can split the adapter into 6 pieces. From from there, when I try to use the 'split' feature, I can't select the underlying sketches from the circular pattern.

What is the correct way to do this?

My hacky workaround was to perform a cut extrude using the original sketch, then copy that sketch on a new plane rotated 60 degrees:
