Hello,
Thanks again for participating in the SolidWorks 2011 Beta program. Attached to this posting are registry settings that are required to turn on the PhotoView 360 preview in the main graphix window (also known as the “PhotoView 360 Integrated preview”) in SolidWorks 2011 Beta 3. The attached video shows how to use these registry settings to turn on this preview. The steps shown in the video are:
- Download “ IntegratedPreview.zip ” .
- Extract the contents of the *.zip file to a folder on your machine
- Before running SolidWorks:
- Double click on “ IntegratedPreviewOn.reg “ to set the registry setting to show the PhotoView 360 preview in the main graphix window.
- Double click on “ IntegratedPreviewOff.reg “ to set the registry setting to show the PhotoView 360 preview in a separate window (same as in Beta 2).
- Double click on “ IntegratedPreviewOn.reg “ to set the registry setting to show the PhotoView 360 preview in the main graphix window.
- To switch between the preview in the main graphix window or a separate window you must first close SolidWorks 2011 Beta 3, run the appropriate registry file then restart SolidWorks.
There are a few known issues with the PhotoView 360 Integrated preview. Please note that we are currently working towards a resolution to the following known issues:
- There is a performance lag that occurs in the initial rendering frame after launching the PhotoView 360 Integrated preview. Note that improving PhotoView 360 performance will be a major focus before shipping the product.
- The PhotoView 360 Integrated preview erroneously consumes excess system memory during operation. This can result in system instability after running the PhotoView 360 Integrated preview for extended periods of time.
- Changes to the geometry of the model (i.e. adding, editing or deleting a feature or moving a component) should automatically pause the PhotoView 360 Integrated preview and display the model using RealView or SolidWorks OpenGL graphix (which ever was used before the preview was launched). In some cases the PhotoView 360 Integrated preview remains active, during a geometry change, when it should pause.
- Selection highlighting does not work in the PhotoView 360 Integrated preview. Note that mouse over highlighting does work.
- It is recommended that you set the output image size to “Use SolidWorks View”. This is found in the PhotoView Options under “Output image size:”. Using a camera or another aspect ratio can result in errors with the mouse over highlighting.
- Note that the ability to switch between the Integrated PhotoView 360 preview and the PhotoView 360 preview in a separate window (as in Beta 2) will be implemented prior to shipping the product.
Again, thank you for participating in the SolidWorks 2011 Beta program. Any feedback that you could provide on the new PhotoView 360 Integrated preview will be most helpful. As always we are very grateful for those of you that submit beta issues as Beta Service Requests. These help us accurately understand the issue and are one of the most effective ways to guide the future development of PhotoView 360 and SolidWorks.
Thank you,
-Marlon B.
