How to represent a curved extruded part using composite shell?

Hi guys,

So I have a curved extruded part which will be made of composite layers. Thus I will use the composite shell method to mesh. However I find that the shell formed is not uniform across the cross section. Basically when I choose the bottom layer, define the number of layers, the shell preview shows as such:

What is happening is that the top shell is not only translated upwards but also expands in the lateral direction. I have played with the settings but i cant get it to be the same surface area as the bottom face.

Is there any way I can fix it? If i cant, will the results be accurate when I run a static study? My judgement tells me that it wont as the representation of the physical feature is not correct.

Thanks for the help!
