How to draw a flexible pcb to fit a complex shape

Hello All,

I am running solidworks 2009. I need some help. I am looking to design a flexible electronic circuit board to fit a complex shape. For example inside of a curved feature like inside of a ball.

The only thing is, once I have the shape i then need to flatten the board out. I'm not sure if I can do this. The only time I have used a flatten feature is in sheet metal.

Say I wanted to put a rectangle flexi circuit board inside a ball. I have drawn a ball then cut it in half. I now want to put a rectangle strip inside that half cut ball. The trouble I can see is, that it doesn't just curve at the bottom and top.The main objective is to draw it then flatten it to see how big the flexi board needs to be. I'm stuck.

I run solidworks 2009 SP3. Will this do what i'm asking or will any of the newer versions do it?
