The perforated plate function is only to use icm with environmental/fan boundery conditions.

What if a perforated plate is mounted in between the in and outlet.

Let's say instead of a filter there's a perforated plate to equalize a flow.

I tried a unidirectional porous material but I'm doubting the results.

And there's no equally spread flow as you would expect in this situation.
