I have imported a step file and saved it as a .sldprt The model had no errors but feature recognition did not recognize the part geometry in the best way. You can say it was not rebuilt with "design intent".
I can use the imported solid to make sketches using convert entities and I could build this over top of the imported object but I'm just wondering if this is the best method? After I remodel it from the Imported is there a way to separate the the new geometry from the old. I guess my question is about what is a good practice to do in this case.
Thanks,
