I am trying to use the "Thread..." tool to create a 3/8-16 thread. I know I can override a default thread's OD and Pitch in the "Specification" section of the "Thread..." tool, but I would prefer to be able to select it from the drop down.
Solidworks for Makers most recent 2025 version
The issue is...
- In a drawing I "Cut Extrude" a hole .3125 OD through a solid
- "Insert"
- "Features"
- "Thread..."
- The "Thread" window opens
- I select the "Thread Location" etc. down to "Specification"
- Under "Type" I select "Inch Tap"
- Under "Size" I select... and this is where it falls apart...
- There is a 3/8-18 and a 3/8-24 but no 3/8-16 (3/8-UNC a VERY standard thread size in the US)
- I have tried several how-to videos on how to add it to Solidworks but nothing works (most likely my fault)
- I use the threads with 3D printing then chase them as needed.
Would someone guide me to a How-to on how to either add or adjust the default inch threads to include a 3/8-16
