I have some scanned files I would like to use as reference to draw some parts from. I have simplified the STL enough to import surface data and I am attempting to use the surfaces as reference for these parts. The scans are made up of many faces, but none are ever prefectly aligned with the plane I want to start the sketch on. I have been using 3 points as reference to get the plane as close as possible.
But this process is half baked at best...

Anyone have any experience with this type of work? Any and all input is welcome.
