How can I draw a scroll with variable helix and draft?

I am new to solidworks, but this is what I tried.

Sketched the starting cut at 4mm x 12mm at the start of the helix. the at the end I sketched the end cut which is 12mm x 8mm. I used lofted cut but I got rebuild errors.

Do the sketches have to meet up correctly on the helix?
