After de-activating my primary license and upgrading my hardware and installing Windows 7 64bit, I went to install SolidWorks 2010 and license activations exceeded maximum. I only have 2 PC's and my laptop has the Home User License and my workstation the main license. There is physically only one of me in my company that uses SolidWorks and have never breached the licensing agreement.
After speaking with my reseller I found out that SolidWorks no longer supports the HUL in the Asia Pacific, in Particular Australia. I basically had to de-activate my home license on my laptp to get the license to install on my workstation. This proves to be a major inconvenience as I went to a clients site this week and forgot to transfer licenses to my laptop - really looks unprofessional. At least when SolidWorks used dongles it was easier. My laptop is not usually connected to the network, or the internet, so this is a major hassle.
I realise the reason that SolidWorks brought this in was to stop people breaching the license agreement, however my company has never breached this agreement, why should I be penalised. I am a SolidWorks contractor and am a CSWP. I often work on clients sites, and this disabling of the HUL is a real disruption to my business.
