Help with linear patterns :/

Hello all, long time reader first time poster. Let me tell you a little about myself, im a 22 year old Solidworks designer that works for a company that designs and installs solar arrays. I am in charge of desiging 3d models of the roof top of large buildings, then placing the panels in the approiate areas for a visual representation for the company. I have done a few smaller scale drawings of buildings a few hundred feet, with under 1000 panels, however, this time i need to design a system for 5000 panels. Here is where the problems begin. I need strings of 16 panels and mounts which i have designed as a part, then i insert them into an assembly along with the drawing of the building. I can get a few rows of panels, but then everything goes to hell when i try to put up all 5000 panels. It quickly becomes impossible to do this and i was wondering if there is some way to reduce the load on linear patterns in an assembly. i dont need to be able to edit the panels and mounts or anything, they just need to be visually there..Also, i dont believe its my computer, i have a core i7 running at 3ghz, 8gb of ram, and ATI Radeon HD 6850 graphics card. I have included 3 solidworks files, The first is the building as a prt, the second is the string of 16 as a prt, and the 3rd is the roof with 1 string as an assembly. Also the last files is a screenshot of what i am attempting, but it becomes impossible to skip instances when my computer is bogged this hard down.

Ps. Take it easy on me, ive only worked with solidworks for a year or so so im still learning, which also means you might have to break it down for me if you have a solution. Thank you for your help in advance
