Hello,
I am rapidly gaining experience in solidworks, but need help on this one. In Unigraphics NX, one could in an assembly or in a drawing(when using master model concept) close a part (or assy) and open the part or assembly as another part or assembly. Can this be done in solidworks? If not do I just need to change the way I'm thinking here?
This is what I'm used to:
1. in an assembly model. Close part A and open it as part B. (part B will have been a save as from part A). I realize in some cases re-mating may be necessary.
2. in a drawing, all views point to one model. Close that model A, and redirect the views to part B. Most cases, part B is close to part A so minimal drawing changes will be needed. A save as then gives a new drawing with little effort that points to the new part B.
I think some may reply that I should somehow use configurations. One thing to note is that part A will be one of many configurations set up up front. Part B will be created by different users as a custom, and I'm thinking we may want the link broken at that point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I just need to forget my NX ways and think differently, please tell me like it is!
