I'm trying to set up an off-site back-up for PDM standard.  I have my database, archive and vault server on the same machine and I wanted to make a back-up to transfer those to web storage via FTP.
The online help that comes with PDM outlines this ridiculously long procedure for doing an SQL vault back-up using SQL management studio-which only includes the functionality if you have the full EPDM or SQL Server 2012 Standard implementation.  If you have PDM standard with the SQL Express 2014 and haven't bought a database back-up tool, you get a shrug.
Has anyone successfully created a regular back-up for PDM Standard that doesn't require the retail version of SQL server?

If so can you give me a basic outline of your procedure for back-up and recovery?

Otherwise, I'm going to have to make a windows system image for this thing every night.
