After failing to convince my IT manager to buy a proper workstation (DELL T3500 Xeonx4, 12GB RAM -  £800)

I have just sourced the components myself from the web;

Phenom II X6 1090T CPU

6GB 1600Mhz RAM

ASUS MOBO

550W PSU

1TB SATAIII HDD

ATX CASE

X24 DVDR/W drive

Windows 7 x64 Pro

I will be using my current ATI V3350 FIREGL video card in the new setup.

All this adds up to £650

Question is, is this rig good enough to complete good quality renders in Solidworks/Photoview 2011 ?

Also, it apparently has to have a three-year no-upgrade condition :-(
