I am using SW2010 SP4.
A current task has introduced me to the use of General Tables in drawings. If the 2010 functionality is the "new and improved" I am glad I didn't work with them before!
I created a general table and added some links to custom properties in the part. I found that a bit cumbersome. Other than double-clicking each cell, is there a way to get the "link to property" icon? But in the end the linking worked.
I had several very similar drawings so I copied and pasted the table from drawing to drawing. However, the custom property name being linked to needed editing from time to time. And I could find no way of determining what custom property a particular cell had been assigned to. Similar to the behavior of linked notes, I expected to hover over the cell and get a tool tip. I expected to RMC on the cell and see "edit text in window". Am I missing the obvious? Is there a better way?
On another note, I searched on this topic and found a link to Ricky Jordan's site which had a video on the 2010 general table functionality. In it he enters data on the fly and tabs or arrows from cell to cell. Well my tabbing and arrowing works as advertised, but the lag time between typing and seeing the text appear is a bit disconcerting - on the order of 2 or 3 seconds. Is there a setting anywhere that might affect this or is this normal behavior?
Thanks,
Daen
