This issue with GDI object not releasing seems to raise its head at some point of the release every year. This time its SP4. not always with the same thing either, last time it was with weldments.

This time it happens if you are adding components to an assembly and the component has a mate reference set up in it. the GDI object keeps going up and up and don't release, even if you close all open parts and assemblies, eventually the resource monitor pops up and you end up having to close solidworks and re open.

Had to do it 3 times this morning already.

Solidworks, in previous years you have fixed this quite quickly, could you please sort? Happening with 4 users here.
