From SDRC Ideas

Any of you SDRC veterans who have been using SW for a whilemight list helpful hints in this thread for those who are justcoming over.

For me, the thing I missed most when I started using SW was havingbranches in the feature tree. In Ideas, you could start a new bitof a model any time you liked, adding a few fetaures to it and thenadding or subtracting it from the main model. SolidWorks, on theother hand, appeared to work only along a single line, like a trunkwith no branches. It seemed you could only make one move at a time.

It took a while before I appreciated the fact that multi-bodymodeling would do the same thing. Turning off that "Merge Result"checkbox when you do an extrude, for instance, gets you what is ineffect a branch in the model tree. In fact, it works a whole lotbetter.
