Before I submit an ER, just want to see if anyone knows a setting or method that I’m just missing…

Suppressing a parent feature automatically forces any child features to suppress as well.  It’s often not so easy to figure out exactly how the child depends on the parent. Sometimes I just want to fix the definition of the child so that it no longer depends on the parent.    I often find it easiest to just delete the parent, clearing the option to delete children, then look at what breaks and fix it rather than digging through each reference of the child to figure out which one needs changing.  But sometimes I’d rather not actually delete the parent, I just want to be able to suppress/unsuppress it freely without disturbing some other feature that currently depends on it.  

Is there some way to suppress a parent and make all its children just dangle the same way they do when you delete the parent?
