Folder management in Workgroup PDM

Hi All,

I am a bit new to the wPDM paradigm so please excuse me if this is a dumb question (I did some searching, but couldn't find the answer).

My company has always worked with all of our files on a network location, and without official revision control.  Some of our larger assemblies are really slow, so I was thinking about turning to wPDM so I can bring the files onto local storage (SSD, baby!) to speed up things.  What I haven't been able to figure out is how can I organize my local folders.

For example, let's say I have a box with a heatsink in it and the top level assembly is a chassis.

In a simplified way, I would probably store the files on the network like this:

N:\Chassis\Project A\Chassis.sldasm

N:\Chassis\Project A\Chassis Top.sldprt

N:\Chassis\Project A\Chassis Bottom.sldprt

N:\Heatsinks\Project A\Heatsink.sldprt

When I set up wPDM, my insticts would be to create projects and sub projects that looked similar to the network drive folders.

My issue stems from when I check out the files locally, they all get dumped into a single folder.  If I was working on a lot of large assemblies, it would be a bear to find anything in that one folder.

Is there a way to have wPDM checkout files to local folders similar (or the same) to their organization in the vault?

Basically, I want wPDM to do the same thing Pack and Go does when you have Flatten to single folder turned off.

Thanks in advanced for any help!
