I'm using Solidworks 2012 Flow Simulation in order to model air flow through a pleated paper filter.

Does the geometry of the porous media in my model need to match the geometry I input to define the porous media in the engineering database (length and area)?

For instance: When modeling a filter, do I need to model each individual pleat, or can I use a simple rectangle but change the definition of the porous media in the engineering database (the length and area) to reflected a thin pleated surface? (I have necessary data to define pressure drop as a function of mass flow rate).
