I've done some checking around and I think that what I'm looking for isn't possible within the software. We've got a plastic hinge that we use in our assemblies. It's a solid part, but I need it to function as an assembly. It needs to be solid for the drawings, but I also need it to be able to bend in the middle to show the motion in our assemblies. The only way I can think of to make it happen is to cut the hinge in half, and create an assembly using both of them that moves similar to the real-life hinge. I can do that, but unfortunately, that would mean we've got a part and an assembly identified as the same thing in our system. This is a hinge that has been used literally a thousand times over the last 25 years or so. I don't think it's possible to replace all those parts with a newly built assembly without other issues coming up.
