Hi all,
Happy New Year.
I'm trying to flatten out a weird shape that isn't a sheet metal part, so I don't care too much about accuracy, but I want to be somewhat close. The first picture is a front view and the second is a bottom view. The two inserts that are clearly seen at the bottom of the part in the first picture is the beginning of an attempt to try to do this. I was going to create a series of segemented lofted-bends and then overlap the flat patterns to give me the approximate flat pattern shape.
However, the flat patterns are seemingly all over the place. One thing I tried was to split each lofted-bend about a common plane then I could flatten each piece individually. I'm unable to unfold the pieces then (I guess because an existing flat pattern exists..............which can't be deleted)
Maybe I can try to split, export as X_T, import, convert to sheet metal, and then create a common plane to unfold about, but I don't hold out much hope for that.........
Anyone have any experience with something like this?
Thanks,
Mike
