Hello,
I have been dealing with an issue with the Extrude Cut tool. I am unable to select enclosed sketch regions to extrude cut through solid geometry. The behavior is extremely inconsistent. and there are at least 3 different cases, none of which make sense. I have included example pictures below (one picture has shaded sketch regions shown)
These cases I have identified are:
1)
- Create Solid geometry
- Create shown sketch
- While the sketch is active, enable the extrude cut tool in the feature toolbar
- attempt to select the region formed by the intersection of the two circles
- Result: I am only able to select the two contours formed by the individual circles
2)
- Create Solid geometry
- create shown sketch
- exit sketch
- enable the extrude cut tool in the feature toolbar (sketch is automatically selected for feature)
- All sketch contours are highlighted
- Result: SOMETIMES I am only able to select the two contours formed by the individual circles, other times I can select regions
3)
- Create Solid geometry
- create shown sketch
- exit sketch and make sure it is deselected
- enable the extrude cut tool in the feature toolbar
- click on the sketch (an existing sketch to use for the feature)
- Sketch region is highlighted
- Result: SOMETIMES I am only able to select the two contours formed by the individual circles, other times I can select regions
I am using Solidworks Connected 2025. I have used several versions of Solidworks in the past, though none extremely recently, however, this functionality or lack thereof is driving me insane, and I do not remember ever having to deal with this.
