I found a work around to my problem but was wondering if there is a permanent solution. I have a reservoir and some flanges located around it in an assembly. Then I decided to make a 3D sketch in the reservoir part and use the convert entities of the flanges to create the pipes.

After that I decided to change the name of the assembly, everything worked fine until I tried to change one of the flange to a smaller one. I inserted the smaller flange and when I tried to convert the edge of that new flange, a pop up appeared saying that this part had an external reference to the "old assembly name"

My work around is to change the name back to the old name and then convert the entities.

Is there a way to change the name of the assembly that the external references are using?
