When I wrap an ellipse round a cylinder why does it not stay the same size as sketched?

an ellipse with a length of 190mm wrapped round a cylinder of 220mm dia changes to an ellipse with a length of 179.99mm

What am I missing here? I want it to be 190mm long that's why I sketched it at 190mm long.
